It should be OK now for all releases ranging from 0.5.1 to latest.
Cheers, and sorry for the delay.

Thank you very much. This fixes installation of Jasy (http://github.com/sebastian-software/jasy) and Konstrukteur (https://github.com/fastner/konstrukteur).

I've heard all the arguments. I'll release polib on pypi as soon as possible.

Original comment by Tomek Paczkowski (Bitbucket: oinopion, GitHub: oinopion):

Since the change to CDN PyPI hadn't any major problems.
If you are at that, please take a look here, for instructions how to make pip installs faster: http://pypi-externals.caremad.io/help/what/

Original comment by Virgil Dupras (Bitbucket: hsoft, GitHub: hsoft):

I'd like to kindly point out that BitBucket isn't much more reliable than PyPI. They just had a major outage.

izimobil avatar izimobil commented on September 18, 2024

Original comment by Virgil Dupras (Bitbucket: hsoft, GitHub: hsoft):

This is a big problem, because it's now impossible to install polib with pip since v1.5 unless we use the --allow-external flag

Original comment by Rémy HUBSCHER (Bitbucket: natim, GitHub: natim):

I've got another problem today:

Error The read operation timed out while getting
http://bitbucket.org/izi/polib/downloads/polib-1.0.3.tar.gz
(from https://pypi.python.org/simple/polib/)

from polib.

Original comment by Rémy HUBSCHER (Bitbucket: natim, GitHub: natim):

I wish to reopen this issue because since pip 1.5, polib version after 0.3.1 are not find by default.

We have to add the --allow-external option.
It would be really nice to you to release on pypi.

pypi hosting changed, they now have a CDN.

Thank you.

Original comment by David Jean Louis (Bitbucket: izi, GitHub: izi):

True, but believe me I have bad memories on pypi file hosting (not necessary pypi being down, but downloads slow as hell or just timeouts), maybe it has changed though, I don't know...
So far, bitbucket served nearly a million downloads of polib with no hassle, I'm sticking with it for now.

Original comment by Rémy HUBSCHER (Bitbucket: natim, GitHub: natim):

If pypi is down you won't be able to find it anyway

from polib.

izimobil avatar izimobil commented on September 18, 2024

Original comment by David Jean Louis (Bitbucket: izi, GitHub: izi):

I'm not sure, if I release on both, won't the pypi file take precedence for package managers like pip or easy_install ? It also complicates the release process and confuses users (which one should I download ?)... Can't you find a solution on your side ?

from polib.

izimobil avatar izimobil commented on September 18, 2024

Original comment by Rémy HUBSCHER (Bitbucket: natim, GitHub: natim):

But you can release on both don't you think?

from polib.

Original comment by David Jean Louis (Bitbucket: izi, GitHub: izi):

Sorry but I stopped using pypi for file hosting, it's too unreliable. I never had a single problem with bitbucket. I understand the mirror problem but I'm really -1 on switching to pypi.
