Just delete that database torrent (host it somewhere else...) and there wont be any legal reason to delete/ban project. Software/project out of box is not hosting any torrents or linking to it. It uses free and open source Yii framework (if im not wrong BSD licensed) for reading SOME DATABASE INFO and showing it. thats it...no torrents or anything out of the box.

But i do agree that we must develop some kind of database exchange software as fail safe (database is most imortant part, everything else is just a way of distribution). I was thinking that each install of openbay shall have option to stream any torrent updates. And also being able to subscribe and listen to others. In these way many websites could be synced and if one goes down others keep its legacy. There are many ways of doing these starting from websockets to php module or complete new software acting as server and having new protocol. (Each with pros and cons). Hosting project on more than one place can start a mess. Best way is to leave it as it is, and if someone develops something better and share than just move official repository. (But im sure people will start contributing very soon)

Yes, I completely agree with @qICEp. A feature like that would definitely secure the way we dl torrents.

I'm happy to know there are many options. Hopefully in the future we will have a good way to share P2P with updates like git.

It's possible via IPFS. Best mass-scaled implementation of P2P-Web so far.
Websites, blogs, cloud, git, file sharing, just name it
