update: it works again, the "discover more" section is hidden. No idea what happened except that maybe something changed at Twitter again.
Not sure if I should close this issue. It may happen again at any time.

another update: it looks like the "discover more" section is shown if some conditions are met, it's probably the post age (shows if the post is older than ~35 minutes for me), or the number of comments, not sure what exactly.
