Metamask ChainID error - cannot place trade about injective-helix-demo

Reopening coz issue need handling for long term. Btw, I think this would be a hotfix for the upcoming release
MetaMask/metamask-extension#11309

So the actual breaking change was in v9.6.0, which is currently deployed in Chrome extension store.

we should wait until v9.6.1 and try without our hack on FE. Should work fine for both dec / hex after v9.6.1

my metamask wasn't unlocked when I pressed the trade button. I was then prompted to unlock metamask and then I saw this error thereafter

This occurs even when MetaMask is unlocked, trades cannot be placed on the FE at all.

Among other things, the prepareTx endpoint from the injective-exchange returns the chainId, which, for some reason is returned in hex now, and previously I think it was returned as a number?

Example:
