So, I believe the value of dc:creator must be literal. This is what the dcterms:creator definition says in the dcmi spec:
Recommended practice is to identify the creator with a URI. If this is not possible or feasible, a literal value that identifies the creator may be provided.
The EPUB specification does not really add anything to this, meaning that what would happen is to un-xhtml the text altogether before adding it to dublin core. This is not ideal, but I do not think anything else is really doable...

@xfq the PR #40 takes care of de-xml the creator's name. I have tested it with the clreq text locally and it is o.k. now.
