@thoth: could you share you OS details and versions etc. i am afraid cookbook lacks supports for debian paltform at the moment.

Notice this is running in a docker container stemmed from the official debian wheezy with nothing but what I think is required to bootstrap a chef environment, `uname -a` returns:

Linux feec6e4827bc 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt7-1 (2015-03-01) x86_64 GNU/Linux

i have added support for debian platform

unfortunately i do not have debian system, i hope it resolve the errors.
