Should there only be 1 i18n instance between server and client?? That isn't clear to me.

Yes I took a slightly different approach using your example repo and seem to be loading the correct language files now from the server. The other issues I'm facing I addressed in the specific i18n packages (react-i18next && i18next-browser-languageDetector)

I'm trying to use this with next-i18-next and I'm getting the same issue.
Unfortunately it seems that I cant disable the SSR feature in next-i18-next
