@TuurDutoit that's almost certainly the case – I think this issue ought to be brought up in browserify's repo rather than here.

Note also that you should be able to npm install events and then require('events/') (note the trailing slash) to work around the problem for the time being :)

require("events") means that browserify will insert that module in "compilation" time (replacing the require call with the whole module), so any previous action in the code would not take effect as such a code did not yet exist.
