Even FileStream fileNamed: 'test.txt'
would return nil
after such an error. Looks like the FS layer in the image breaks down completely...

What paths are affected by the problem? Are they git refs, git objects, pack files, ...? Do you mean with FileStream fileNamed: 'test.txt'
that no file at all can be opened any more, not even files not related to a git repository?
from squot.
I guess there are plenty of instances in the FileSystem-Git code where streams are opened, but not closed. I already had a todo in a workspace for this at some time. If the Mac VM has a tighter limit to the number of open file descriptors than the Windows VM has for open file handles, this might be the problem.

Yes, it's usually a git-internal file or directory. And yes again, I can't even open other files, such as the sources file...The open file limit is a good hint, let me see how many handles are open...

Mh, no. That's not it I think. Testing with a fresh trunk image....

Damnit, it also happens in a "fresh" trunk image. Not sure what is going on...will look into this next week...

j4yk@721bc9d fixed this, see #38.
