Hi,
tough one. a-Shell is running the standard Posix calls to check the content of the directory, so it shows what is currently present. As you found out, distant files that have not been downloaded yet do not show up (you can know they exist using ls -a: they appear as .fileName.icloud).
It is definitely annoying, but I am also not sure on how to fix it. Thank you for raising the issue; I'll keep looking for a fix.

Thanks for the info. FYI, the iVim developer seems to have worked around this somehow. In iVim I issue the browser with a VIM command :idoc and :idoc dir and I get all files seamlessly listed as if they were local. When autoload is enabled in .vimrc it even picks up remote changes and updates the file.
