Hi,
unfortunately i don't own/have access to any MacOs device, so i can't really test it.
There is one sequence sent to the MCU which triggers it to leave the bootloader and start the application. Perhaps sniffing the USB with wireshark would show if it's being sent correctly.

fyi, I'm using this on macOS Big Sur, and it works fine.
I'm using brew and pyenv to get a python3.
