Ergonomics and guidance for sharing queries about beam

I'm still figuring things out so YMMV but I find these helpful:

type QE s = QExpr PgExpressionSyntax s
type NQE s = Nullable (QE s)

Most of my queries then have types of the form:

  :: Q PgSelectSyntax SomeDb s ( SomeT (QE s)
                               , OtherT (NQE s)
                               , QE s Text
                               , QE s (Maybe ZonedTime)
                               )

Not sure how many queries we're talking and all but in my experience it's pretty manageable.

Hello Elliot,

Thanks for the endorsement! The current 'guidance' is to use partial type signatures. However, I do have a ton of type synonyms defined that do make it easier to write out the types... but obviously, GHC won't figure these out for you.

In the meantime, do feel free to ask about specifics on the mailing list or IRC channel. Having explicit questions also helps me understand what should be documented.
