@certik, I noticed you used \ at the end of a line in a PR (I removed it), we should avoid that (use () instead to continue over multiple lines). I've used "file()" in a number of places and this should be turned into "open()".

I guess one should set up a Travis build bot to help with this, the unit tests should be good enough for this purpose.

Yep, it's been on my todo list to setup Travis for this. Especially for testing PRs.

Another reason why we need good Travis tests. Then it would tell us exactly
what we can and cannot use.
