Thanks for the report. I was able to replicate the issue.
The real problem is the steam overlay: it is very similar to Toolbox++ in how it interacts with the game, and unfortunately they go into conflict.
I will try to see what I can do, but I can't promise anything.
Note that there should be no issues if you manage to launch the game without the steam overlay, I don't know if that is possible though.

we changed the render system a bit, and it might work now, definitely worth trying
