It has to be seen whether attaching to pmon is the right thing to do. This would mean that the container exit if the database is shutdown. It should be evaluated how other databases behave in this scenario.

Over the months it has been proven that keeping the container alive throughout a DB restart is a good thing as that allows quick and easy parameter changes or similar without having to go through a container lifecycle. Although this behavior is not very Container-like, so far there were not explicit requests to change this behavior either, hence closing this ER for now as wontfix.
