No, it would require changes to the code.
given your previous post it is clear that the system is not counting folders/content in your system. It is also apparent the code for doing that is not failing in a way I would expect it to to cause the behavior.
for completeness - what version/platform of alfresco are you using?

An idea would be to add a parameter to define the depth of folders it should process, just like many Unix utilities do.
