From IRC:

[09:06:04] <nils_> I'm looking into installing graylog collector, why is there a package for the repository instead of just using an URL?
[09:07:09] <nils_> this seems unnecessaryily complicated
[09:10:18] <kees_> it is, i had to install the repo in a testvm to get the url etc
[09:23:32] <nils_> kees_, I just extracted the deb
[09:23:44] <nils_> probably worth a bug report?
[09:27:26] <joschi> nils_: you can fetch the graylog collector DEB from https://packages.graylog2.org/ if you really want to. I'd still recommend using the repository to get automatic updates.
[09:28:23] <nils_> joschi, I want to use the repository, however I don't want to install a package to get the repository URL since that makes automating the task a headache
[09:28:55] <joschi> nils_: I see, valid point.
[09:29:13] <nils_> joschi, you should probably publish the key and url in addition to the package
[09:30:56] <kees_> a lot easier in puppet to just add an url and key than to download and install a package

Is this issue out of date? We have in http://docs.graylog.org/en/2.0/pages/installation/operating_system_packages.html the link to https://packages.graylog2.org/ and i did not see a reason to have more complex information in the documentation when you are able to get from a already linked location.

@jalogisch The issue is still open. It's basically about being able to use something like the Puppet apt::source type to define a repository. Right now, this information is only available inside our "repository" packages.

got the point but if someone build own Puppet Modules, my assumption is that he would sneak in our module for this information.
