Instead of:

transforms: {
      translate: '(50%, 50%)',
      scale: '(2)'
      //any other transforms
  }

It should be

transforms: {
      translate: '50%, 50%',
      scale: '2'
      //any other transforms
  }

I think he meant parenthesis, not brackets.
