Hello Gnosygnu,
Just checking on how the hiatus is coming with 2021 about half way. We really do appreciate Xowa and wish we could help you somehow. We would like to send a donation. But will first send you an email in few minutes on how or what could help most.
--Thank you immensely for Xowa!

Hey, thanks for checking in. In short, I'm still working on personal matters, so it will probably be at least another month or two before I make any commits. Hope that helps.

I never understood how can we officially read wikimedia dump files. Is mediawiki official way? Billion complicated ways, most can only be done by programmers. Even mediawiki requires extract of bz2 file, which is time and space wasting. I heard for some unzippers that may only extract one article from bz2 multistream, but too manual...to complicated. I expected something easier, official, simple. I hate kiwix because it is not having categories, and templates are hidden via css, also does not have wikipedia and help namespaces.

I am no programmer, and so using python scripts is not my method to extract data either. Yet I use Xowa a lot to extract data from wiki dump files. Perhaps I can give a few tips. What exactly are you wishing to do?
If you wish to simply extract a couple articles from a dump, I would use the Dansguardian feature in Tools>Options>Import-Dansguardian. For instance I would list those several articles in the include txt file and then weight a common word to exclude all other articles.
To study title and name space data in a very organized way, import the entire wiki. Then I can analyze the namespaces in orderly methods by opening the .xowa sqlite files with DB Browser for SqLite.
See #844 for other suggestions in importing wikis.
Sometimes it goes a few days till I get back to this forum, but if I can be of help, I will try....

Just an update. I'm caught up in a big project at work, and won't be able to resume XOWA until end of this month at least. Sorry all and thanks to those who are waiting.

Another update. XOWA is still in a holding pattern for another month due to work / personal situation. Thanks.

Thanks for the update!
I am sure many other users feel similarly--we sincerely extend our best wishes that everything comes together well for you at work / home in the coming weeks/months!
--blessings to you,

Sorry all, but another month and yet another push due to personal reasons. Thanks.

Missed last month's update. I've been working on cleaning up the code base in a branch (xowa2). I think it will be a few more months before I resume active XOWA development again. It's still hard to estimate due to work as well as personal reasons.
