If the value is a DateTime/Carbon instance it seems to work just fine. I cannot reproduce the behavior you mentioned.
I can confirm that It does not work if the value is an invalid date/time string - which makes sense. I'm not 100% sold on attempting to cast a value to a Carbon instance from a string.
Confirm this is still an issue, sounds like something with your app setup.

@bogdankharchenko Thanks for you reply. When reviewing my code, the mistake was indeed on my side. The values where not casted to a Carbon-instance. Sorry for the invalid bug report!
