When you installed GitExtensions, did you choose the right version (32bit or 64bit)? When installing 64bit on a 32bit system or vice versa the shell extensions will not be shown. To manually register the shell extensions register GitExtensionsShellEx32.dll or GitExtensionsShellEx64.dll. On a 32bit windows you can do this by running "regsvr32 GitExtensionsShellEx32.dll" or let GitExtensions fix this for you by clicking on the red bar in the settings dialog.

I did choose the right version - 64bit.
Also, when I start GitExtensions it shows everything green, but menus do not appear?

I have both the 32bit and 64bit version registeren on my 64bit vista pc so the shell extensions work in both windows explorer and the 32bit application I use, like Total Commander. Could this help?

So, you are saying I should do the regsvr32 command with the 32bit dll?
from gitextensions.
You could try, but this will only work when you want to use the shell extensions from a 32bit application. I believe there are two versions of Windows Explorer in vista 64bit, but the default version is the 64bit version. So it will not help if you are trying to fix shell extensions in 64bit explorer.

Yeah...something wrong with the extension software - because it all says it is installed and green - but no menus. I just installed Tortoise so I now have a context menu from them.
