Files types tagged as binary in .gitattributes are still displayed when selected in the file tree about gitextensions

This issue is (partly) fixed in version 2.08. The .gitattributs file will be read, but not all options are supported.

Could you verify if this issue is solved and close this issue?

The issue is solved in version 2.08.

My .wav files are no longer displayed when selected in the file tree.

spdr: What options related to binary files are missing? I thought I got them all in the 2.08 fix.

SimonAlfie: .wav and almost all binary files should be automatically detected by the file contents viewer, regardless of .gitattributes setting (as of 2.08).

cocytus: Yes, this is an old bug, I reported it 18 months ago. Just closed it at the request of spdr870 after testing it was fixed in 2.08.
