Most likely you're running it from a wrong folder. You need to make sure you run the fab command from the root folder (the one above the config folder).

Thanks - I made it work by copying the config folder into my vagrant directory. I also needed to run it from the vagrant directory so it could find my image.

ok, great, even though I think there's a way for the fabric script to find the config folder more intelligently. I would probably like to fix that actually. Can you quickly tell me how you run the fabric command in the first place from your vagrant folder? (and any help testing the fixed-version would also be appreciated, if you have a few moments to spare)

Sure - I was running it using $ fab vagrant -f ~/src/graphite-fabric/fabfile.py graphite_install from my vagrant directory.

just pushed a change that should work from any folder. Thanks for reporting this @josephg. If you don't mind trying it out and checking that it works, this would be great.
