In your case it would be easier (and much more useful) if you just pass kramdown the last part that you want to convert. It is not kramdown's job to find out what it should parse: You provide the input, kramdown parses it.
kramdown can't know beforehand what part should be removed and adding a special exception for your case is neither useful nor does it scale.
