I verified that removing the stringify does fix the issue.

Hmm, interesting. I'm not sure if there's even a reason for stringification to be honest, I think that was done in a previous version to get rid of function options.

What's the use-case for this? Javascript style code editor with setcode functionalities?

Perhaps fork and see if removing that works, if it does let me know and I'll check if there's any reasons it has to stringify.
