Simple in browser editor for jekyll compatible with github api

jekyll.js

jekyll addon that uses github personal access tokens to publish from website.

Personal access tokens

They can be generated from here. Remember to give READ/WRITE permissions to token.

Installation

You can simply add the git repo as a submodule in your jekyll post. Alternatively you can also use the editor at georoot.github.io. Because the personal tokens are only saved on local browser, make sure to logout if you are working on a not personal system.

To add as a submodule on existing jekyll blog

git submodule add https://github.com/georoot/jekyll.js admin

and then you can simply visit <username>.github.io/admin to access the editor.

Add flag in dashboard to show if the post is in draft

Use Codemirror editor instead of just text area

check for existance of _posts folder

404 error is api is thrown in absence of _posts folder, there should be a check on the same

Management for organization blogs

There needs to be come change in logic in angular to add for organisation blogs.

Make the application responsive

The current application does not work well on mobile devices it would be a nice idea to make the complete editor responsive so that edits can be made from mobile devices also.

The page opens at dashboard

On a new browser the page opens at dashboard. An easy fix is to call logout for first time. That would set the token values to false . A condition for the check should be added in angular

missing .md in front of files

While creating a new post, the .md might be missing in some cases

Maybe better to have an image upload kind of thing, that uploads image to git

SEO tags ?

Seo is pretty important. Luckily jekyll already has a plugin for same at https://github.com/jekyll/jekyll-seo-tag

Add gitab static page integration for jekyll hosting ?

Option to delete post

On editor, there should also be an option to delete post.

Option to maintain mailing list

This can be done using mailchimp api.

Preloader while fetching posts

There should be a preloader while fetching content from github
