@FelixLangot check out the v3.1.0 :)
The extension now supports conversations with GPT-3 method. Though I should mention that ideally the dialogues are supported better by ChatGPT. If you are in for conversations, I'd recommend autologin method instead for ChatGPT.
GPT-3 and Codex are different than ChatGPT and there is no guarantee of robustness, reliability of dialogues compared to ChatGPT. I had to do a workaround to support this in Official API Key method.
If you want to reset your conversation just hit clear conversation like the screenshot below, to restart your session with GPT-3/Codex.

Thanks @FelixLangot for reporting this issue. I will look into this.

@FelixLangot please try to refresh your page. I added that workaround in the Readme as well. https://github.com/gencay/vscode-chatgpt#troubleshooting
If you get ChatGPT is at capacity right now during autologin, try to refresh that page a couple of times until you see the login page. Refreshing may help in some cases, when there is a queue. This is unfortunately out of this extension's control.

I am sorry but I am not sure I understand. Are you saying that depending on the way I sign in, I am not going to get the same chatbot? So should I remove my API sign in settings and stick to my chatgpt email adress and password to get the actual chatgpt and not GPT-3 in vscode? Sorry I am very new to this.
Thanks

So I tried changing the setting "ChatGPT: Method" to "Browser Auto-login". I gave my email address and password to the extension as well. The issue that I got when I used this method before and that I still get now is that the extension opens a new Google Chrome window with this message written at the top:
(I don't know if it's relevant) and I can never sign in because ChatGPT is said to be at capacity. However, it works fine in Google Chrome when I sign in to the browser version of ChatGPT, it does not say that ChatGPT is at capacity. Any thoughts?
Thanks very much.

I see, thank you. I guess we can close this issue now. I still find it weird that the sign-in prompted by the extension says that ChatGPT is at capacity while it doesn't say that on a normal Chrome window, but it might not be due to the extension itself.
