Like you said, using :hover for navigation elements is a anti-pattern and should be avoided (not only because of the double-touch-issue). FastClick shouldn't support it.
Thanks for providing a workaround though.

Yes, I think there are other ways of achieving similar UX without relying on :hover. Tentatively closing this one...
