Sorry, no: Rnote comes with a schema file that describes the available settings: the gschema xml file (https://github.com/flxzt/rnote/blob/main/crates/rnote-ui/data/app.gschema.xml.in) . Everytime this file is modified the app needs to be installed to the system again before it can be run. It is possible to run the app without installing at all, but if there is a schema already present it tries to load the persistent settings on startup (and fails because the installed schema is outdated in your case).

You need to install the app to the system with the latest gschema (an additional colorpicker palette button got added relatively recently)

Thanks, trying to figure this out. Is the package you're referring to gsettings-desktop-schemas?
If so the latest stable release seems to be 45.0 which is what I have (releases).

Or am I looking at the completely wrong package :P
Thanks!

Thanks that solved it! I I think I'll add a quick note to the BUILDING.md file to save the next person the trouble :)
