Ah, interesting, thanks for the report! I added turning outputs off as a workaround.
My use case involves taking a laptop out of a docking station and re-plugging into a different one. Sometimes, the output of the display port hub in the new docking station only gets active after explicitely turning it off and on again (sigh, indeed). Sometimes, the hub in the new docking station gets assigned completely different outputs and the GPU still thinks that the old outputs are still active.
I'd accept a PR which makes this optional (e.g. via a command-line option?).

Ah, gotcha. It turned out (a few weeks after filing this issue) that grobi doesn’t help with my specific situation after all, so I’ll not spend time on it now. But maybe other people are interested in making this optional, too?
