Found a workaround: declare the image outside my View function like so. I would guess that each Image instance is taking some measurable fraction of a second to load and render the image each time View runs, and pre-creating the Image avoids that overhead.

I'm not sure if this actually counts as a bug or not since Hello World obviously wants to keep complexity low, but for the sake of others I just want to document an apparent best practice: don't recreate images inside the view function if you want to avoid image flicker.
