Hello! You are actually using the module correctly. By default, this module will only compress the response if it is larger than 1kb (none of your examples are) or it's a chunked response (the first using res.write is).

If you really want your tiny responses to be compressed, you can set the threshold option to something lower than 1kb :)

no problem. i forgot to mention that if you run you server with the environment variable DEBUG=compression set, you can see output for what this module is doing. for example, the cases you described above would have printed out

size below threshold
no compression
