The code of an existing cost center is read-only, it can not be changed. This is determined by the business logic in Exact Online. A property may be read-only depending on many variables and this can't usually be predicted before making the call. A property that is read-only now may not be read-only tomorrow. To help smooth api calls any property that is deemed read-only by the business logic is skipped in POST and PUT requests and no exception is thrown. The downside is that you can't recognize that a property value is not changed unless you follow up with a GET request and compare values.

In this particular case a cost center code is always read-only. A cost center code can only be changed through the recoding function inside the Exact Online web interface. Currently this is not possible through the api. This information is missing from the reference documentation so I will add an item to our backlog to get the documentation fixed.
