The WiFi shield's TCP server stops listening for an unknown reason after 180 seconds. The problem seems to stem from the WiFi Shield's firmware. A firmware upgrade was made using the files bundled with the Arduino 1.5.5 beta software but didn't resolve the issue. A workaround is to periodically send a null character as a "heartbeat" that keeps the listener running.

Cannot reproduce issue. Wi-Fi shield firmware version is 1.1.0. Considering this issue as fixed.
