Does uninstalling and re-installing the extension solve the problem?

Uninstall and reinstall does not change the issue. The problem seems isolated to hostnames that resolve to an address on my local system. I though maybe it was specific to 127.0.0.1/localhost, because that's what I was working with initially. However, I created an aliased interface with a wholly different IP address from the 10.x.x.x/8 network and different hostname, and still the same problem persists.
Actually, one further commonality between the two is that I'm specifying a port number rather than defaulting to port 80. Perhaps this is related?
