For styling you'll need to use our saas library and manually figure out which properties to override: https://developers.arcgis.com/javascript/latest/guide/styling/ and https://github.com/Esri/jsapi-resources/blob/master/4.x/npm/demo/SASS.md. If you have questions about using saas with the ArcGIS API for JavaScript the best place is also on GeoNET since widget CSS works independent of any JS framework.

So the two repos on here for calcite-bootstrap and bootstrap-map-js do not help at all with styling a input widget?

I don't recommend them. They aren't up-to-date and they aren't maintained.
