using NCL from conda about esmvaltool

A conda package will be integrated in the next major release as agreed at the 2nd Technical ESMValTool Workshop. We have created a new feature branch REFACTORING/conda where the development will take place. Note that the NCL version 6.3.0. has a bug that prevents the ESMValTool from execution. This problem is solved in the current NCL development versions. @ESMValGroup/esmvaltool-coreteam

Yes, this works for now. If I recall correctly, we pull ncl from the ncl development channel.

I do suggest we do look at the conda requirements at some point before a release, It could do with a clean up. shall I make a new issue for that so we do not forget?

I just installed ncl 6.4 for my Mac from the conda-forge channel. Worked like charm!

If the installation has been successful, just type ncl at the command line, as usual.
