Can you check what MYSQL version you are using? Did you use Bryan's Vagrant, which sets Mysql to 5.7 (first version that supports native JSON, see here https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/json.html) or are you running something older?

Cool, let me know. Please open an issue for documentation when you have some time. Sadly we can set that dependency on the module level, as far as i know, but on the docker piece its already set. Also, i will have a new esmero-gabinete up on Saturday, built yesterday a full new Cantaloupe IIIF container for the S3 integration i’m testing. D

So, there is no way to upgrade Acquia Dev Desktop to a different version of Mysql which is sad. Since I'm trying to test and work only on the Strawberry Field piece I wanted a way to create clean Drupal environments quickly and I found that to be a good solution. I will use https://github.com/geerlingguy/drupal-vm instead (comes with MySQL 5.7.x by default) When you say open an issue for documentation, do you mean just in general (as in, "need to create documentation")

I was thinking more about just an Issue in this tone "document Strawberry field deployment needs and a quick getting started guide" and comment the thing about MYSQL there. Just the issue, we have people that can write that. Strange that Acquia Dev Desktop is using end of life versions for Mysql. Hope you have luck with the ansible vm.

Upgrading to a version = or > than 5.7 solves this problem. Will need to make sure users understand this is a requirement.
