@nzakas would you consider using grunt.js to build the docs with assemble? Co-incidentally I'm about to push up an "assemble" version of bootstrap to demonstrate building gh-pages with assemble and grunt instead of jekyll. Assuming you like the idea and that assemble can do what you need it to, I'd be happy to put the project together for you if you like the idea (fwiw I designed the assemble site if you think that site looks okay).
This would keep the entire project based on javascript, and on a semi-related note, it would be good to have a grunt task for linting with eslint as well (if one doesn't exist already). So using grunt on the project might accelerate adoption.
Just my 3 cents. I like what you're doing, no worries either way

also, since the assemble docs don't list community projects yet, here is a live project using it: https://github.com/h5bp/Effeckt.css, and I'm using it on the new lesscss.org site as well.

I would like to be part of it and contribute... and @jonschlinkert's idea is nice aswell

@jonschlinkert as long as it can be auto generated, I'm willing to give it a shot. I'm not a huge fan of introducing grunt into the repo, as I'm generally not a fan of the tool in particular. Is there a pure cli without grunt for assemble?
As for a grunt rule, I'll leave that up to someone else. There are still too many bugs to be worked out, so I'm not looking for adoption quite yet, just help developing it.

I have just did a sample one on my repo with your .md files (http://viswanathm.github.io/eslint-gh-pages)
@nzakas I would like to work on this issue, can you assign it to me?
from eslint.
Hi @viswanathm please feel free to work on it. Send a pull request to the gh-pages branch when done and I'll be happy to take a look.
Oh but, can you choose a theme without special fonts? :)
from eslint.
@nzakas, I generated site using jekyll and raised a pull request
changed layout as your comment (used Bootstrap) :)

Sorry for the delayed response. @nzakas it sounds like Assemble wouldn't have been a good fit for what you wanted to achieve. but thanks for being willing to consider it.

@jonschlinkert Of course! Good luck with the project.
