@dmitshur I'm really grateful for taking the time and checking out the project and also for your professional approach of detailing the issues having with versioning and Semver backward incompatibilities.
I have updated the code, published a new v1.1.0
release and added the retract
directive to the go.mod
file. Please check the code and if something is missing or is not working or if you consider that it should be corrected/modified let me know. Again thank you very much for your contribution, I really appreciate.

As far as I can tell, this is completely resolved and the issue can be closed. I had a chance to try the new v1.1.0 version, and it works great! The v1.0.{0,1,2} versions are correctly showing up as retracted too.
I think there's a couple minor places in README.md and doc.go that might need to be updated to display the new API (e.g., 1, 2, 3), but that's trivial.
