Maybe we can get @isaacs to update https://www.npmjs.org/package/node to include a bin script that spawns node. That way we could include node as a devDependency

Node should always be called node. Anyone who has it installed as nodejs is almost certainly using an unsupported (and wildly outdated) debian package, and should either build from source or follow the instructions on the node wiki.
