Fails for me as well.
I tried both the second and third templates and both failed.

That shouldn't happen currently. For a little while, the template used the elasticsearch
gem, but not anymore.

Verified again that the template works in a completely blank Ubuntu virtual machine.

I tried to just create template 2 and/or 3 as separate apps but they failed. Possibly because I think only template 1 loads elasticsearch. It was ok once I ran the template 1 script and then ran the template 2 script keeping the exact same app name ("searchapp") so that it overwrote template 1.

No template requires the "elasticsearch" gem anymore. The templates have to be run in succession, as the README clearly states.
Sorry guys, closing this, cannot replicate your problem neither on a clean system, nor when I uninstall the gem from my Mac.
