Adding a little more context

It is not expected by other dashboards such as nginx etc that their associated Index Pattern is selected as the Default Index Pattern to make their dashboards work with Auto Refresh..

So without looking at the code it would seem that the APM dashboards are relying on the Default Index Pattern instead of using / referencing the apm-* Index Pattern directly by name.

FYI this can be reproduced outside of the Dashboard, in standard APM app.

@tsouza Actually that is not my experience the Actual APM Application works fine when apm-* is not default and Automatic Refresh is on. It is only the dashboards and visualizations that break. Perhaps I misunderstood your comment.

Also I have reproduced all behaviors in 6.6.0

Observe working fine.
