They all start with different letters, so you could shrink them down to ILFAGSTPM, preceded by an extra S sometimes for Simple. Not that I'm seriously suggesting that this scheme be used; I'm merely pointing out the other possible extreme to the current one, for purposes of bidirectional readability comparisons.

I really don't like arbitrary word shortenings in API design. Then the end user needs to know whatever arbitrary shortening you happened to pick.

with rather severe misgivings. ;)

I think Iso was a good choice, because it has history, whereas "Trav" or
"Walk" does not.
Your aesthetic is probably a good way to go, but it gets tricky when
writing things that we're used to being short. For example, we'd have
"walkHead" instead of "traverseHead". I guess I just prefer the more
whimsical name.
Tangentially related, I'd really like "traverseHead <=> headOf id", but I'm
thinking getting it to work that way might be a challenge.
