I have never used Maven before, there's a plugin for eclipse isn't there? I don't really see the advantages, if you could excuse my ignorance and explain why it would be used on a project?

in fact, its a def for your project, how to build, whats your resources, what libs are used, what a build produces, etc... the idea came up at the moment i think about to use other libs, if you are used to mvn your only action whould be refresh maven probs, otherwise i have to add the lib in the repo und you have all to fiddle with your ide till the project compiles again...
so the advantage is not really here when it's not well known and the project setup is not really that complicated.
but it's still worth to thake a look at it, once used to it, you will miss it.. :)

Hmm, might give it a check over before confirming. I want to make it as easy as possible to contribute to the project, so if it does indeed make things easier then it might be worth it.

Shure it makes things easier, if you are used to it.... otherwise you have to deal with another app, that can be disgusting if anyone just want to write a little fix... Beside of the advantages of maven i see here also disadvantages:
- IDEs have normally android support, so project setup is normally not such a big deal
- releases are not made often very often, even if i dont like to do releases with an ide, its still not a big issue...
And in fact, my question was more like "do you use maven and thougth about to use it but you were to lazy to start with it ?" (because the initial set up is not really work a coder likes to do ;-)
So for me its ok to go on like it is... If you are anyway interested (e.g. for personal skill development) i can set up a project setup and you can build up your own opinion... And further, no one is forced to use maven even if the project definition exists... so... if i think about it, perhaps i will configure a project... leaving the decision to the people to use it or not...

Yep, after looking into it, for Turtle Player we won't use Maven. But thanks for letting me know about it - for future projects it looks worth it. I ran a few 'Hello World' examples with it, just to test it out.
