Just a note on shortcuts:
npm i -D
is a shortcut fornpm install --save-dev
npm i
replaces the oldnpm i -S
resp.npm install --save

I'm curious how a multi-package build looks like with npm. We used yarn + lerna for that in the past and it works really well: common external dependencies are shared and internal dependencies (between our own packages) are created as symbolic links.

@spoenemann Hoisted (read: shared) dependencies work straight forward with Lerna + npm, no extra config needed. I used it in different projects. I can add Lerna, if you want.
