I've used Plex in the past, and am currently using Jellyfin. I check back on Dim every few months and plan to switch to it once the rough edges are gone.

I left Plex because I just didn't like the direction it was going. They started flogging their streaming service at me, and I'm not interested in that.

Jellyfin is good, but there are definite issues around code quality. There are lots of minor bugs, rough edges, and performance issues that have been around for years, and I don't think they're ever going to be fixed. When I've looked into fixing issues for myself, it hasn't been pretty. I think a lot of this is due to the history of Jellyfin as a fork of Emby.

At least for my part, I'm optimistic that a fresh project designed with a clean architecture has the potential to do a better job. Whenever I check out Dim the performance is much better than Jellyfin and bugs seem a lot less common. It's not quite at the point where I can switch over from Jellyfin, but looking at the issues tagged for v0.4, I'm definitely planning to try switching over when that comes out.

Honestly, it's just personal preference. Currently, I'm running my media centre off Jellyfin, but I'm following this project closely because I want to switch as soon as the mobile clients come out.
