XMLEditorRegisters is a map with 'char' as a key. When it's read from XML, there is a toInt conversion, so that name="0" becomes just 0:

(*this)[parent->getAttribute("name").toInt( )].split(cd);

When serializing to XML, we call:

       nreg->insertAttribute("name", i->first);

causing implicit conversion from i->first (a char) to short int, and then invoking DLString(short) constructor. In recent commit there was a new DLString(char) constructor added, and it's now called instead of DLString(short). As a result, the attribute value becomes a string constructed from a char with ASCII code 0, i.e. rubbish.

To make it work as before, attribute value needs to be converted to int before calling insertAttribute.
