You're right. I'll correct this (doc, or AppBuilder) on next version, coming soon.

You can do it like this:

1 - Create something like indexview.py
2 - On init.py import it: from indexview import MyIndexView.
3 - init AppBuilder like this: appbuilder = AppBuilder(app, db.session, indexview=MyIndexView).

An alternative way (and if you just want a simple change) is to override the F.A.B. index.html template.

On your app/templates create your index file on the following structure.

app
|- templates
|- appbuilder
- index.html

So you just have to create a directory named appbuilder, and create your index.html template there.
