But the version of g++ shouldn't have anything to do with the c++ standard you're using, should it?

I should probably also mention that following the instructions in your README, I was able to successfully compile it from this repo.

I've had a look at the PKGBUILD and I think it might be because it's pulling an older version (Release 1.1).
The version the PKGBUILD uses doesn't include commit 7685448 Fixing build on gcc 6+ as release 1.1 is from February 15th and the commit is from May 12th.

I bumped the AUR build to the latest. This should be fixed now. Thanks for finding this, originally I was only checking the git AUR build instead of the release version.
